In 2009, the Saskatchewan Government conducted consultations with users of health services across age and socio-economic groups, rural and urban geographies, and among First Nations and Métis people to assess patient experiences with the health care system. As a result of this engagement, the Commissioner released recommendations, including a recommendation to collaborate with First Nations and Métis peoples and organizations to develop a culturally safe and competent health system that meets their needs.
